Via [Miami Herald 11/21/2011] Tampa – Florida. A Tampa Bay man gets 15 ears in prison for a DUI related fatal crash happened in April 2009. Caril, a Tampa bay area resident 25 at that time has crashed into another car at a red light while going about 80 mph. That car’s driver, 37-year-old Tina Harrison, died a short time later at a nearby hospital, and a passenger was injured. Authorities say Carll had mixed prescription pain killers with alcohol while partying that night.

Alex Magee is Bucs #4 Arrested this Monday

I hope Bucs will perform as good on the football field in a few months. Scoring 4 times on the DUI field Bucs might be trying to setup a new record.

Magee, 24, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and driving with a tag that’s been expired for more than six months. Because the amount of marijuana warranted only a misdemeanor charge, the officer issued Magee a citation and a court date and let him go.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers DUIs

Tampa Buccaneers football team might need to do a better job on educating its players in regards to drinking and NOT driving concept. Bucs GM Mark Dominik said that the recent string of DUI arrests within the organization is “disappointing”.

On April 1, 2011, Jay Kaiser, 37, the assistant to head coach Raheem Morris, became the third member of the coaching staff or front office to be arrested on DUI charges in the past eight months. Kaiser refused field-sobriety and blood-alcohol testing. He was released from jail after posting $500 bail. Pro scouting coordinator Shelton Quarles, 39, was arrested in March, and former defensive line assistant coach Chris Mosley, 32, was arrested in September.

27 Year Old With 3 Children Faces DUI Charges

A woman was arrested in Pasco county on Tuesday night (3/22/2011). A 27 year old April A. Musson was arrested. Allegedly she passed out while waiting at Burger King drive through with her 3 children ages 1, 3 and 5 in her car.

She was arrested and charged with DUI, child abuse, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. She was being held on $7,150 bail.

Pasco woman accused of DUI in crash

A Dade City woman was arrested Wednesday and charged with DUI manslaughter in a crash last June that killed a 15-year-old Clearwater girl. Leah Nicole Slagle, 19, was driving east on Wire Road near U.S. 301 in Pasco County late on June 26 when she lost control in a curve and struck a tree.

Award for making most DUIs goes to Pasco trooper

The winner of the Hurd-Smith award for making most DUI arrests on the state is a Pasco County trooper Ronald Evans Jr who has made 238 DUI arrests in 2010. Mr. Evans also won the award in 2009 for making 187 DUI arrests.

This is a significant increase of 27% in a number of arrests a trooper has made in 2010. How this 27% increase in a number of arrests can be explained? On my opinion it’s either we got really much more dunk people driving under influence or perhaps Highway patrol has significantly increase the patrolling hours. After all, the increase is 27%!

Sgt. Steve Gaskins, spokesman for the FHP, said the reason for the high numbers isn’t because Pasco has an extreme amount of drunken drivers compared with other Florida counties. It’s just that these two troopers are good.

“Those guys have quite the initiative to do DUI enforcement,” Gaskins said. “As a result, the numbers are high.”

Statistics for people convicted of DUI in Pasco have remained relatively the same in recent years — 1,057 in 2007; 1,033 in 2008 and 1,042 in 2009. Numbers for 2010 were not available.

Hillsborough County has the highest number of DUI convictions in the state, with 4,038 in 2009, according to FHP statistics. Its numbers have declined slightly in recent years. Pinellas had a sharp decrease of 17 percent in 2009, with 2,223 convictions. Hernando has been steadily decreasing, going from 567 in 2007 to 486 in 2009.

Teacher in Pasco County Charged with DUI

A culinary arts teacher at Robinson High School in Tampa was arrested by Pasco Sheriff’s deputies early March 5, accused of drunken driving.

Russell Alan Clark was pulled over in his 2003 Cadillac at State Road 54 and Via Bella Boulevard in Land O’ Lakes just after 2 a.m. Clarke was clocked at 86 mph in a 55-mph zone, a sheriff’s office report states, and when the deputy approached him he immediately smelled alcohol

Dentist hits pedestrian reaching 89 mph speed

AMPA — Seconds before crashing into pedestrians on the Harbour Island Bridge last fall, killing two, a Riverview dentist hit a top speed of 89 mph, prosecutors learned.

Matthew Moye’s blood alcohol level — 0.13 percent — exceeded the level at which the state presumes impairment, records show.

“I’m the designated driver tonight,” he said at the scene, according to a police dashboard camera. “I was driving those two girls around after having a party. I haven’t had anything to drink.”

Those were among the details included in documents, video and audio files released Monday by the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office in the case against Moye, 35.

Clearwater man charged with DUI

TAMPA – A Clearwater man found with liquor, prescription drugs and weed in his car faces DUI charges after colliding into a deputy’s vehicle in Tampa early Saturday morning, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Authorities say that 41-year-old Deputy Karl Gwynne was on US 19 northbound at the Tampa Road stop light when he was rear ended by 45 year-old Herbert Hugh Andrew McClellan III around 1:45 a.m.

McClellan was driving with no insurance and a revoked or suspended license.

Ice Cream Driver Charged With DUI

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office repprted that 49-year old Ronald Clifford Purdy was pulled over Monday afternoon after someone called 911 to report his driving.
Deputies say Purdy staggered out of the ice cream truck in New Port Richey and gave his birthday when he was asked for his address. The deputies also reported finding two open bottles of whiskey.
A report lists Purdy’s blood alcohol content at 0.227 percent, nearly three times the legal limit for drivers.
Purdy has been charged with DUI and was released on his own recognizance.
